MEDIA MANIPULATION BY SAUDI ARABIA
The last 100 years since world war two post ottoman empire, the Middle East was broken up by western powers that often fueled hostilities to maintain dominance. Its regimes, often are US puppets, have long relied on the region’s many linguistic, religious and cultural ties to shape the inclusive political environment. Systems that do not control the information space are susceptible to being destroyed by it via media manipulation.
The Middle East is not alone. Virtually all authoritarian regimes supported by the US or Russia unleash propaganda on their people, from state-controlled television to social media campaigns on a wide variety of platforms. However, the Middle East can be particularly vulnerable to operations under foreign influence from US, Russia, UK, France, and sometimes Germany. This vulnerability created intense regional rivalries, the lack of free media in many countries and distrust of governments and institutions make the region particularly vulnerable.
This trend was reinforced by real conspiracies, including the 1953 coup that overthrew Mosaddeq, the false pretense of the Suez Crisis, and countless attempts by regional governments to weaken and overthrow themselves. Furthermore, shared religious, historical and linguistic ties, embodied in concepts such as Arab nationalism and Islamism, create transnational ties and reinforce vulnerabilities. It is easy for ideas to cross boundaries and in doing so they can inspire, frighten or sabotage.
Saudi Arabia has been running dis-information and mis-information campaigns continuesly. The propaganda farms have been studied by numerous reserachers, we mention only to of them:

KI Data analyzed the data pertaining to the campaign by Saudi Regiem, only to find that most of the accounts pertain to social media propaganda farm. Here are some observations:
- Many accounts are self-declared as social media form
- Most accounts only publish propaganda that services MBS or Saudi Regime in General
- Most of the accounts follow one another.
